In literature, there are two types of characters: static and dynamic.
A static character stays the same. Throughout the story he/she never changes in terms of beliefs, understandings, and expected behavior.
A dynamic character changes at some point in the story. This character's actions, beliefs, thoughts and understandings of his surroundings change as a direct result of events that happen in the story.
One major dynamic character in The Outsiders is Ponyboy. Pony thinks he understands people, their motivations, and the reasons for their actions. However, there are many events in this book that show him he is wrong, and he changes his opinions. Your job is to identify the event that you think has enabled him to learn the most about his incorrect judgments. Tell me what he used to believe, tell me what happened, and tell me what he believes now. Open up a word document and type your response. Include two quotations to help explain what happened. Explain using at least six typed lines.
On the Discussion Tab for this page, click "New Post" and post your explanation there. Then take the time to read through your classmates' posts as well. Choose three and reply to them. Your replies should be at least two lines long. Agree or disagree with them, help explain and expand their points, or ask a question. Do more than just say "I agree". Do not reply to someone who already has three replies on his/her post.
